Advocacy Work for All Families

  • Co-leader of Building Partnerships working group of the California Association of Infant Mental Health.  As a state affiliate of the World Association of Infant Mental Health, we are working "To bring together as a common voice organizations and individuals who promote caregiver-child relational approaches to both prevent and heal adversity in young children prenatally to five."

  • As a member of GreenLight Fund's Selection Advisory Committee, I assist in investment decisions for programs serving low income children and families in the San Francisco Bay Area.

  • On March 23, 2015, I was part of a dynamic expert panel on early childhood discussing innovative ways to support children and families in our communities.   The  South Bay Early Childhood Educator Organization (SBECEO)  organized and hosted a screening of the documentary The Raising of America which explores how a strong start for all children can lead to a stronger,  healthier, and more equitable America.

  • Time and Consistency--a guest blog at For Our Babies, discussing how a baby's attachment relationships develop and why young children need time and consistent care with their primary caregivers in order to thrive and grow to be confident, competent learners.  Stay tuned for future blog spots and webinars.  For Our Babies is a national movement promoting healthy development in U.S. children from conception to age 3 and advocating for:

    • Prenatal Care

    • Paid Leave

    • Well Baby Care

    • Quality Infant/Toddler Care

  • In 2003, I was awarded the prestigious Solnit Fellowship Award from Zero to Three. I participated in a 2 year fellowship program that focused on developing leadership, collaboration, and bridging science and policy among a dynamic multi-disciplinary network of infant-family professionals.  Zero to Three is a national non-profit organization that provides parents, professionals, and policymakers the knowledge and know-how to nurture early development.  Click here for more information on state and federal policy issues affecting infants and toddlers.
